The Block Bali: Combat Sports Training Centre in Bali

Located in Pererenan, The Block is a martial arts training facility built around MMA, striking, grappling, strength and conditioning, recovery, and performance nutrition. The gym was built by Gianni Subba, a former ONE Championship fighter who has been involved in the combat sports industry for years. The facility brings several parts of a fighter’s training routine together in one location, with dedicated spaces for striking, strength and conditioning, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, recovery, and nutrition.

Training at The Block

The main training hall is the centre of The Block’s martial arts programme, with two boxing rings and dedicated space for boxing, Muay Thai, kickboxing and MMA training. Classes range from boxing drills, padwork and technical sessions to sparring, with dedicated sessions for more experienced fighters. The weekly schedule also includes Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, No-Gi grappling, mobility, strength and conditioning, and mixed padwork.

The gym also trains professional fighters, including Xiong Jing Nan, the former ONE Championship Women’s Strawweight World Champion who moved to the UFC in 2026. UFC currently lists The Block Bali as her team. Her presence adds a professional training element to the gym, while the wider class schedule remains open to people training at different levels.

Strength & Conditioning

The strength and conditioning area sits alongside the main training space and is equipped for both general fitness and combat-sports conditioning. The setup includes barbells, dumbbells, conditioning balls, and cardio equipment including bikes, SkiErgs and rowing machines. The programming is designed to support fighter performance and the physical demands of martial arts, while also catering to people who want to develop their strength, conditioning and overall fitness.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Grappling

The Block also has a dedicated BJJ room on the second floor. The programme covers both Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and No-Gi grappling, complementing the striking and MMA sessions taking place downstairs. The schedule includes BJJ fundamentals, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, No-Gi and No-Gi wrestling sessions throughout the week.

Recovery Area

At the back of The Block is a dedicated recovery area designed for members to use after training. The space includes a swimming pool, sauna, ice bath and jacuzzi, along with an outdoor lounge area where members can sit on the grass and spend time after their sessions. Recovery is integrated into the overall training environment rather than being a separate facility.

Larios Performance Kitchen

Food and nutrition are another part of The Block. The facility houses Larios Performance Kitchen, created by Ian Larios, a chef who has worked with professional combat-sports athletes, including fighters from the UFC. The menu focuses on high-protein meals and practical food options for people who train. Breakfast options include omelettes, egg avocado toast, overnight oats and a big breakfast. Other dishes include healthy fried rice, chicken kungpao, chicken and beef yakitori, breakfast burritos and wraps. There is also a UFC Champs Favourite Camp Bowls section featuring meals named after fighters including Daniel Cormier, Israel Adesanya, Belal Muhammad and Jamahal Hill. For something smaller, the menu includes grab-and-go options such as protein bites and protein date bark. The bar also serves electrolytes, smoothies and protein shakes, giving members options before or after training.

The Wider Block Experience

The Block also has a retail area at reception selling its merchandise. The venue also hosts Fight Night events, bringing live combat sports to the facility and giving local and visiting fighters an opportunity to compete in front of an audience. The second floor hosts Sunset Pilates, while Human+ provides IV treatment within the facility. Together with the martial arts training areas, strength and conditioning space, BJJ room, recovery facilities and Larios Performance Kitchen, The Block brings training, recovery, nutrition and wellness services into one location.
